The Start-Up Story

Armed with a dangerous blend of courage, inspiration, and luck, Zack and Jeff set out to create an online golf game in the winter of 2007.

Knowing little about creating a game and even less about golf, the first clear step was to build a team with a passion for gaming and a spirit for risk-taking. First interviews proved either humorous or rewarding. Our game programmer, Frank, and two artists, Jon and John, were treasures found in a sea of eager and quirky game developers (quirky = understatement).

Once the initial team was assembled, we began to hunt for an office while temporarily working out of Jeff's condo. After trekking through Chicago's wintry streets for longer than we'd care to recall, we found the perfect spot for our limited budget. While not the first place you'd expect to find a tech start-up, we made our new home in the corner of a bankruptcy law firm's call center.

With the game's production well underway, we recruited the final member of our current team, our systems architect, Matt, in the fall of 2007. Later that fall, we closed our first round of outside investing, while simultaneously partnering with a boutique advertising and PR agency.

Our team currently works out of a loft in Chicago's west loop, and every day we look forward to meeting more pioneers of the Gimme Golf community.

We hope you'll enjoy playing it as much as we've enjoyed making it!
